Carissa began her career in the Medicare industry over 13 years ago, starting as an agent with Humana shortly after college. Through consistent performance and leadership, she advanced into a Sales Director role, where she led growth and strategy across the state of Colorado for six years.
That front-line experience — knowing what it's like to be the agent in the room with a beneficiary — shapes everything Carissa does at Benefits Life. She didn't arrive at leadership from an office. She arrived at it from the field.
"Carissa connects the operational and human sides of the business — creating solutions that are both efficient and impactful."
At Benefits Life, Carissa plays a critical role in shaping the organization's growth and operational excellence. She focuses on strengthening provider relationships, optimizing internal operations, enhancing marketing strategies, and elevating the overall agent experience.
Her hands-on approach and deep industry knowledge have helped drive scalable systems and meaningful partnerships that support both agents and the communities they serve. With over a decade of experience in the Medicare space, Carissa has developed a strong understanding of the evolving healthcare landscape — including provider alignment, distribution strategy, and agent enablement.
In addition to her work at Benefits Life, Carissa serves on the board of the Senior Assistance Center and the Gary Plumery Foundation, where she is passionate about supporting and enhancing the lives of developmentally disabled individuals.
It's the same approach she takes to her work — showing up, caring deeply, and making a tangible difference.
Carissa lives on a ranch in Castle Rock, Colorado with her husband, alongside their Highland cows, donkeys, and dogs. When she's not working, she enjoys traveling, seeking out new experiences, and spending time caring for the animals on the ranch — bringing that same sense of curiosity and energy into both her personal and professional life.
